5 Ways to Make Congress Work for Us Again

Labor Day is an opportunity to honor the American workers who built the backbone of our nation and shaped laws designed to ensure the well-being of our workforce.

Meanwhile, just 18 percent of voters approve of the job Congress is doing, while 75 percent disapprove. It’s clear that Congress needs to improve its work on behalf of the American people.

Here are five ways to make Congress work for us again:

  1. Tell your member of Congress that you support the creation of a Joint Committee on the Organization of Congress to find solutions to make Congress work.
  2. Call on your member of Congress to commit to civility by supporting House Res. 400. You can do this by tweeting your support or writing a letter to the editor.
  3. Show your support for a revitalized congressional schedule that would allow for more robust lawmaking.
  4. This November, vote for elected officials who commit to working across the aisle to find solutions. Here’s how to find your polling place.
  5. Hold your member of Congress accountable by meeting with your representative or attending a tele-town hall. Here are other ways to engage your lawmaker.
